Some scary, scary things are happening with our financial system. And the proposed fix makes me profoundly uncomfortable, to say the least. I could barely make it through the newspaper today. So, what's a girl to do in the face of all these serious issues?
On a Wednesday, obviously, there is only one solution:
Three straight, shameless hours of reality TV!
For anyone else who shares my drug of choice, a few random thoughts on tonight's episodes:
America's Next Top Model
Why were there so many shots of the girls with blankets wrapped around their shoulders and scarves around their necks? Is Tyra too cheap to pay for heat?!?
Kind of happy for the sweet girls who made it to the Seventeen photoshoot. But shouldn't they have given dear HootchieGirl some pants? That wasn't a dress, it was a shirt!
Mr J in his tank top and short shorts? I realize some people think he's hot, but that sight made me laugh, and laugh, and laugh. Seriously, the funniest thing I saw all night.
They introduced this week's photographer as "Someone who cares more about the eyes than any other part of your body." And that "someone" was the notoriously skeevy Nigel? I don't think so.
I'm crazy about Annaleigh for her sweet personality. (Yo.) Glad she turned things around this week. As for the best photo of the week? I don't get that model at all, and suspect she only succeeded because her square jaw and thin lips were covered in the photo.
Project Runway
Designing outfits for each other AND based on a musical style? Isn't that far more convoluted than it needed to be? Amusing, I guess. But convoluted.
Why did they go through the whole model selection process if the models didn't walk the runway in this episode?
Not to give away the final result, but ... WHAT? Not that the loser wasn't on the way out sooner rather than later.... But the losing look wasn't that bad, and certainly not worse than the monstrosity it was up against. How did #2 Worst get a pass? Surely we're too late in the season for the producers to be influencing choices based on "drama factor." And I refuse to accept the excuse of "being out of the comfort zone" -- isn't that another way of saying "that designer only has one look"? Which is a BAD thing? (I take some comfort in the fact that the people on my discussion forum of choice are all pissed.)
The preview for next week is hard to read. I've been calling Korto and Jerell as shoo-ins for the Final 3, but next week's copious crying is a bit disturbing....?
Top Design
Eh, I can't say I paid a ton of attention to this episode. My mom called partway through (anyone live in Wisconsin and need a sweet stray kitten?), and Mr. T came home.
But, I would love to know how Mr. T and I can sign up for a team of decorators with painters, seamstresses, etc. to give OUR place a makeover? Save a few furniture changes (Mr T would say a LOT of furniture changes!) and some contact paper in the kitchen, it's still basically Mr. T's bachelor pad.
Love India Hicks as the new host, if only for her fabulous accent. But what happened to last year's farewell catchphrase? "See you later, decorator" was the cheesiest thing ever. And yet ... it cracked me up every time!
